SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The public will have a chance today to learn about an Interstate 5 improvement project expected to have a major impact on the downtown Sacramento commute.The city of Sacramento and Caltrans are hosting open houses on the project, which will focus on a stretch of I-5 known as the "boat section" that passes by downtown.Work is set to start in late May.Construction will require northbound and southbound lane closures at different times.The open house will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. today at the Tsakopoulos Library Galleria at 828 I St. in Sacramento.
