An event billing itself as the World's Oldest Triathlon broke its attendance record Saturday.

A total of 2,370 people competed in this year’s Eppie’s Great Race Triathlon and Eppie’s Great Race Duathlon along the American River Parkway.

Vic Vicari, of Sacramento, and Vicki Ammon, of Carmichael, were the overall Ironman and Ironwoman winners.

Eppie Johnson, the race's founder, said the success of the race is in part to a great team of coordinators and the competitors themselves.
