A subdivision south of the El Dorado County town of Pollock Pines was evacuated Thursday because of a wildfire burning in the area, authorities said.

The subdivision, known as Sierra Springs, is located just west of Jenkinson Reservoir.

The blaze, which broke out shortly before noon, burned 67 acres. The fire was contained by about 7 p.m. Thursday.

Authorities said residents from 40 homes were evacuated.

No structures were burned.

Another fire was also burning on about 100 acres near Feather Falls in Butte County. No homes were threatened by that blaze, said Janet Upton, a spokeswoman for Cal Fire.

More than 300 firefighters are fighting the blaze in Butte County.
