The National Park Service expects an increase in the number of foreign tourists visiting Yosemite National Park this summer, officials said Friday.

"We see a fluctuation in Asian visitation and European visitation but everything we're seeing so far --bookings, reservations, it'll be a real big year for international visitation," said Scott Gediman of the National Park Service.

Foreign tourists said the trip to Yosemite is more attractive than ever due to a weakened U.S. dollar.

"We spend the money very happy," said Saling Wong, a Taiwanese tourist who is currently visiting Yosemite. "[We] buy a lot of things we want."

Yosemite welcomes three and half to four million visitors a year.

Officials said that despite an economy threatened by a recession, they think there will be an increase in visitors from California since foreign travel may be too expensive.
