DETROIT -- Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was scheduled Friday to get out of jail, where he spent the night for violating his bond by traveling to Canada on city business.

A judge ordered him to wear an electronic tether.

Kilpatrick also faces new charges, for allegedly interfering with a detective trying to deliver a subpoena to his friend.

The mayor already faces perjury and misconduct charges stemming from his testimony in a civil trial last year.

A district court judge overturned that decision Friday but said the mayor will have to wear an electronic tether and won't be allowed to travel.
