SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- A mother has been arrested in the death of her nearly 2-month-old child after the Sacramento County Coroner's Office found she had a lethal dose of methamphetamine in her system.Maureen Hoffart, 45, was arrested Tuesday after a warrant was issued.Investigators think Olivia Rose Dipinto obtained and died from meth in her mother's breast milk, Sgt. Matt Young said."The child died as a result of ingesting a lethal amount of methamphetamine that was transferred through the child's breast milk," said Michelle Lazark, of the Sacramento Police Department.Dipinto's father, and Hoffart's long-term boyfriend, said he can't deny that Hoffart had drugs in her system"Maureen has had a drug problem we have been fighting for some time," said Dipinto's father, who asked to remain unidentified. The unidentified father, however, said he doesn't think breast feeding was the cause of his daughter's death."I believe that she suffocated because we found her face down in a blanket," he said.Dipinto was found Jan. 1 in the 2500 block of 38th Avenue.Young said nothing suspicious was noted at the time.Hoffart faces charges of endangering a child and causing death.
